Nets could land future Hall of Famer, six-time All-NBA forward in trade with Heat

The Brooklyn Nets hit the reset button after trading away both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant in 2022.

Now, a couple of years removed, Brooklyn’s general manager Sean Marks could be poised to make another blockbuster deal to land another star on the trade market.

The Nets made headlines again this summer by sending Mikal Bridges to the Knicks in what seemed to be a confusing deal at the time. Brooklyn traded the versatile forward to an in-state rival for a huge return landing five first-round picks in the deal. With Marks loading up on future draft picks, the Nets have the trade assets to get another big deal done.

Sports Illustrated’s Derek Parker created a potential trade scenario that would bring Heat star Jimmy Butler to the Nets as his future in Miami remains uncertain.

“Brooklyn Nets get: Jimmy Butler, Duncan Robinson,” Parker suggests. “Miami Heat get: Ben Simmons, Cam Johnson, 2025 Knicks first-round pick, 2025 Nets second-round pick.”

Butler is entering his 15th season in the league, but the 34-year-old continues to prove that he’ll rise to the occasion when his team is depending on him the most. Averaging 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and five assists last year with the Heat, the seasoned veteran looks to have plenty left in the tank despite his age.

However, it would be interesting to see if Marks would pull the trigger on a big trade for a star on the backside of his career.
